February Meeting

We began February’s Paper Arts Guild (PAG) meeting discussing our collaborative book project. Members explored the possibility of constructing pages for the stab book models allowing for a framed appearance and lending cohesiveness to the finished books.

Nine PAG members are taking part in this book project that includes 8 hand-carved linoleum block prints along with one letterpress poem submitted by Dr. Carolyn Segal from CCC English Department.

The PAG plans to make 15 books enough for each participating member. The remaining six books will be given as gifts and become part of the Cedar Crest College Art Departments private collection.

The image for the linoleum block size remains 5X5. Special Rives lightweight cream printmaking paper will be provided and cut to 7X7 for members to use in creating their prints and books.

PAG members will have an opportunity to pull their linoleum block prints at a special press session to be held on Friday, March 18th beginning at 3:00 pm in Alumnae Hall room 107. Ink and printing paper will be provided by the Cedar crest Art Department. Please dress accordingly as you will be working with press ink. Contact Jill Odegaard jkodegaa@cedarcrest.edu or Chimae Cupschalk cfcupsch@cedarcrest.edu if you have any questions.

Guilded Page Press?
During the February meeting PAG members discussed coming up with a catchy name which could be used to identify our paper arts guild.

After brainstorming possibilities PAG members felt the Guilded Page Press was a clever, homonymic pun befitting of members activities on an individual and group level. As the Guilded Page Press Paper Arts Guild at Cedar Crest College continues to evolve, members will enjoy the benefits of sharing and exploring the versatility of paper.
